Back in February we determined to drive up to “The Lakes” when not many venture to perhaps the wettest place in England. But Dorothy and William Wordsworth ‘s home for a good while when they were perhaps at their most creative, has always been a must for us. Usually we have walked past on our way to the lake. In February it was our destination, and it did not disappoint.
As I am always drawn to things domestic, especially textiles and sewing in general, the cottage intrigued me. Quite dark and I imagine chilly in times where the only source of heat was an open hearth in the main living areas and probably damp too, the cottage sitting on the side of a beautiful hill!

Living here must have been a total occupation, everything hand made or carried out from cutting wood for a fire to pegging the rug on the floors, I do wonder how they had time for their writing walking and entertaining along with family life. I guess with no TV or other distractions life was less complicated and urgent.
I am afraid I must apologise for not taking a photograph of any daffodils, I will give the excuse that we were too early to see them “Fluttering and dancing in the breeze”.
